Lost In Time

I've been gone for 9 days, visiting my family. We finally got home last night and I feel all out of sorts. Mark actually forgot which cabinet we keep our dishes in. I apologize for no posting, but I had spartan internet access, at best. In a funny way, I enjoyed being away from computers. I was able to forget about a lot of my concerns. Unfortunately, today I'm trying to catch up with the rest of the world. The entire structure is a time capsule, all the way down to the matching pink bedside lamps. Her attention to detail is amazing. Nothing is out of place, but it still feels quirky and fun. Ironically, I had also signed up for no particular reason; I just wanted to try it. Well, since then I have found a couple of long lost friends and made connections with some of my blogger friends. Eventually, I stumbled upon a group called <a href="http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2249771973"><span style="font-style: italic;">Mid Century Modern</span></a>, where I found this little gem! It is the home of Jason O'Malley and J.R. Craigmile. They are the owners of a modern  and fun greeting card line, called <a href="http://www.handsomedevilpress.com/page/page/1922580.htm"><span style="font-style: italic;">Handsome Devil Press.</span></a> Jason also writes a<span style="font-style: italic;"> <a href="http://doodlewhore.blogspot.com/">blog</a></span> for all of you who can't get enough celebrity gossip...I know I really got your attention now:)<br />Jason and J.R.'s home reflect their modern sensibility and knack for combining color. The white walls are a great background for accessories that have graphic shapes and bold colors. I'm really impressed with the amazing editing. Nothing seems out of place, but it doesn't feel stuffy.  I <span style="font-style: italic;">know</span> that is not easy to do.<br />After such a great find, you all can guess that I will keep roaming through Facebook; hoping to stumble upon more treasures. (Although, I still don't get a lot of the "lingo").<br /><br /></div>

This is the former home of Danish midcentury designer, <a href="http://www.scandinaviandesign.com/finn_juhl/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Finn Juhl.</span></a> It is part of a museum in Copenhagen, and preserves the designer's work and way of life. I'm fascinated with this house, because although it is furnished with pieces that are 50 and 60 years old; it is so fresh! I would move in and not consider changing much. The price has been lowered, and some Realtors are essentially selling it for the land. This is a very unfortunate side of Houston. A lot of the time, people choose to tear down an existing house in order to build a more ostentatious one. I only live a couple of miles away, and I love this neighborhood. I would love to adopt this house as my own, but I don't have the kind of budget to do it right now. I'm putting out a call for help, and maybe someone will take this on. Once a year Mid-century dealers gather at the art gallery to sell their wares. It includes furniture, accessories, art, vintage clothing and jewelry. Lots of very cool stuff. I always want to walk out with everything I see. This year, I really loved the pendant lamps pictured above. I also loved the items in the display below. I mean just the display alone is fantastic, but every piece is wonderful too.
