Personally, I'm intrigued by their gutsy approach of taking run-down spaces and turning them into design gems, while working together no-less! A lot of you know about my passion for mid-century houses. Here is a house that is in danger of being torn down, unless someone steps in. The <a href="http://www.houstonmod.org/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Houston Mod group</span></a> listed it as its "Open House", in December, but it hasn't sold. The price has been lowered, and some Realtors are essentially selling it for the land. This is a very unfortunate side of Houston. A lot of the time, people choose to tear down an existing house in order to build a more ostentatious one. I only live a couple of miles away, and I love this neighborhood. I would love to adopt this house as my own, but I don't have the kind of budget to do it right now. I'm putting out a call for help, and maybe someone will take this on. There are also modern details (like the new mosaic back splash), that keep the house from feeling like a museum instead of a house. I will admit that I am just as guilty of tearing out perfectly good features of a home in order to update a look. Now, I would think twice about getting rid of details that give a house flavor and personality. This home has its original terrazzo floors, wood paneling and plumbing fixtures. It really works very well.
