I don't always understand why. But, one of those things is the song <i><a href="http://www.blogger.com/goog_298864410">Moon River</a></i><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moon_River">.</a> I first heard it as the intro to <i><a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0054698/">Breakfast at Tiffany's</a></i>, one of my most beloved movies. Then I fell in love with the song as <i><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOByH_iOn88">Audrey Hepburn sang it so sweetly</a></i>. while sitting at her window. Ahhhh....</div><div style="text-align: justify;">I've heard many other versions of Moon River, but in my mind; none compared to "Holly Golightly's". Today, on the other hand; I may have found a cover that gets pretty close! I've been swooning over the wonder voices of <i><a href="http://www.facebook.com/thehoneytrees">The Honey Trees</a></i>, all evening:)</div></div></div>

Counting The Minutes!

For now, I have been watching this video over and over. Its fantastic!! The choreography is so outlandish, I can't turn away. </div><div style="text-align: justify;">I once went to a concert, where too much of the audience was sitting quietly, when they should have been on their feet dancing. Suddenly, a guy stands up and starts dancing as erratically as in this video.  I think the entire audience stopped to watch him. I watched, hoping someone would put him on stage. The unpredictability of his movements and willingness to express himself were electrifying. It was awesome!</div></div></div>

the art of mixing work and pleasure...

I don't write about work much because I like to keep things separate. We started off on a bus at 6.15 (at least it wasn't a Monday) to go to Bowral to do a bit of planning. Although not quite old enough to remember the early songs, I definitely remember the 70s stuff. In fact, some of it takes me back to particular places in time really easily...</span><br /><iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/nDxhugRKZ8g" title="YouTube video player" width="480"></iframe><br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">...that boat trip party on the Brisbane River in 1977 especially! A boy called Justin. But that's a whole other story ;)</span><br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">So, it was really nice for the owners of the company (there are four of us) to do something for our very hard working staff. They enjoyed it. We enjoyed being able to make it happen. And it just goes to show that work can be a bit of ok when all the stars are aligned :)</span><br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">And I also got to make a brief trip to Newtown on Saturday morning to see the first born's new digs (v. nice) and a saunter up King's Road. Where most of the shops I wanted to go into weren't open until 11 a.m., which alas was the time the bus was heading home. The first types of flute-like instruments were made of bones and tusks from animals like mammoths and swans.<br /><br />Nowadays, flute manufacturers like the Powell Company use precious metals to make their flutes because of their denseness, attractive luster and malleability. Silver, gold and platinum alloy are the most used of the precious metals. Platinum alloy flutes are thought to be the best sounding flutes because of their dark, penetrating sound as well as its ability to maintain stable pitches with different dynamic levels.<br /><br />William Kincaid, the world-renowned flutist and teacher was the proud owner and player of a flute that would become the world’s most expensive flute. The platinum flute he performed with until his death in 1967 was made in 1939 by the Verne Q. Powell Company, and was exhibited in the New York City World’s Fair held in that same year.<br /><br />Christie’s auctioned the expensive flute in 1986 for an unbelievable $187,000. Kincaid’s other accolades include a faculty position at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, spots in both Philadelphia and New York City’s Symphony Orchestras and the C. Despite that fact, over twenty-five tons of the meteorites have been recovered and it is the most commonly found meteorite on the market today. One of the most interesting things about the meteorites is the pattern of Widmanstatten lines created by their frigid passage through space. Most Expensive Pianos

Have you ever tried to imagine what the world’s most expensive piano might be? Imagine no further. The most expensive piano in the world belonged to the Beatle’s John Lennon and was auctioned off to British pop-singer George Michael in 2000. When the topic of expensive pianos comes to mind you might think somewhere along the lines of a Bosendorfer, or a Bechstein, or maybe a Steinway & Sons “Alma-Tedema”, with its lavish artwork and hand crafted symmetry. But the Steinway & Sons “Model Z” Piano formerly owned by John Lennon is a fairly ordinary walnut upright piano that still bears a few cigarette burns attributed to the musician.<br /><br />The piano was originally bought by Lennon in December 1970 and delivered to a studio at his home in Tittenhurst Park in Berkshire, England. He composed and recorded the song “Imagine” on it and was filmed playing the song on it for the first time for his wife, Yoko Ono, and the Plastic Ono band. Luckily for anyone like that, Kuhn Studio and Bösendorfer Pianos have created a very pricey piano.<br /><br />The Kuhn-Bösendorfer piano, as well as the accompanying bench, is set with 100,000 hand-cut, polished gems by glass artist Jon Kuhn. Kuhn’s glasswork is known for its luminescent quality and is featured permanently in over thirty-five museums, including the New YorkMetropolitan Museum of Modern Art and the White House Permanent Collection.<br /><br />The Bösendorfer piano on which the diamonds are set is no less deserving of praise. Bösendorfer has been a name in the piano industry known for voice and playing sensitivity since 1828.<br /><br />The Kuhn- Bösendorfer line of pianos will soon be available for public consumption. The Strat was signed by several rock musicians to benefit a tsunami charity, ‘Reach out to Asia’. It was bought one year ago by Qatar’s royal family for a million dollars and donated back to the Asia Program, bringing in $2.7 million USD at the more recent auction, whose attendees included Former President Bill Clinton. It’s completely original. The guy who sold it to me made it from separate parts from other guitars. The sets, in particular her house, are shockingly 'au courant'. I loved the cerused oak front doors with 3 panels and modern sidelight. Even the sofa looks as if it came from Room and Board last week, not 55 years ago!<br />However, the main reason to watch this movie is the superb acting and even MORE excellent singing. This scene is heart-wrenching and with fantastic sets - meant to show the Oscars of the time.
