Moon River

I don't always understand why. But, one of those things is the song <i><a href="http://www.blogger.com/goog_298864410">Moon River</a></i><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moon_River">.</a> I first heard it as the intro to <i><a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0054698/">Breakfast at Tiffany's</a></i>, one of my most beloved movies. Then I fell in love with the song as <i><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOByH_iOn88">Audrey Hepburn sang it so sweetly</a></i>. while sitting at her window. Ahhhh....</div><div style="text-align: justify;">I've heard many other versions of Moon River, but in my mind; none compared to "Holly Golightly's". Today, on the other hand; I may have found a cover that gets pretty close! I've been swooning over the wonder voices of <i><a href="http://www.facebook.com/thehoneytrees">The Honey Trees</a></i>, all evening:)</div></div></div>

scenes from eat, pray, love...a movie I must see (and a few of my travel pics thrown in)

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">One of the disadvantages of living in this land down under is having to wait extra months until some (alright then, most) movies appear. Unfortunately this is the case for this...waiting, waiting, waiting until October 7. October...that's ludicrous! I do believe it's very soon for you lot 'over there'. When you see it please tell me you love it. In fact I'd say 2nd favourite on my list of all time favourites...and I've read a lot...so that is high praise...even though I am of course, a very long way from being a literary critic! Did I mention I've read it three times? And I keep on having to buy new copies because I loan mine and forget who I've given it to. The kids are all right

Starring Annette Bening and Julianne Moore as a couple raising their kids they had through a donor -the film tackles a lot of issues facing modern families today without being preachy. The movie seriously made me laugh and cry and I would recommend you all to see it! However, keep the rating in mind, it's not child friendly (nor would you want to see it with your parents or children no matter their ages if you get my drift; awkward!!)<br /><div><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_HhVGrCGT1uE/TEmXxajlyUI/AAAAAAAAJRk/PJq-VntYMg0/s1600/The-Kids-Are-All-Right-Movie-Poster.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5497091695380384066" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_HhVGrCGT1uE/TEmXxajlyUI/AAAAAAAAJRk/PJq-VntYMg0/s400/The-Kids-Are-All-Right-Movie-Poster.jpg" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 271px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" /></a> Without giving any of the plot away, the part of the film I identified with most was just a small sub-plot. The daughter is going off to college and it reminded me so much of the day my parents dropped me off at my dorm room; I saw so many of my own feelings on the face of that bright young actress bringing back a flood of emotions!</div><div>It's going to be another hot and sticky weekend, why not go to the movies?</div>

It's the home gym of Warren Beatty in <em>Heaven Can Wait</em>!  The space was restored for the movie along with other parts of the house and impresses everyone who enters it, as it should!<img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5483575347693657234" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioErPi3emQnAeETHMaJlwVMH_PaSzYYLvnczaVQnFqKAXdCVwbLu4YT6cmUv6dvzt45QpAFPq53v8RxN8-xgwElw_GnoWtnUzyjgVtrTELrM2BXRzAdTTlGdl2SaPAcFKvm5npZ2Rqeg8b/s400/ballroom.jpg" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" />The flowers, seen best in the picture at top, were probably the most beautiful in the house. Not an easy feat as each room has a gorgeous bouquet fresh from the garden. The mixture of bright colors in the pale green room with gilded accents was really striking. Forget the <em>Bagues</em> chandeliers modeled on the ones from the <a href="http://architectdesign.blogspot.com/2009/10/versailles-hall-of-mirrors.html">Hall of Mirrors</a> at Versailles, everyone on the tour noticed the flowers first.<img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5483575354525170674" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguh2AX30dfAkagpuAF5NDEGCFMHyHH4XwsDCrN69eWfBKjFjlvi1ooysD0-xUKROd-Jt-4ByU6-l_M5HmtTFX40wqu0UfTBoB5_eioyoOp5mPpwfmort1edg6YDnMTpcDWZSOP7iYlRcap/s400/fireplace.jpg" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 355px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" />The murals are the core of the room. They were completed in 1921 by <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernest_Peixotto">Ernest Peixotto</a> for the original owner Mr. Bourn after he suffered from a stroke and was unable to leave the house. While I doubt it will be winning any awards next year (sorry!), I definitely call it a 'must-see' for anyone interested in movies purely for aesthetics.  I think my general summation of the film was that it is to Tim Burton what the original Hairspray was to John Waters.</div>

Even the sofa looks as if it came from Room and Board last week, not 55 years ago!<br />However, the main reason to watch this movie is the superb acting and even MORE excellent singing. This scene is heart-wrenching and with fantastic sets - meant to show the Oscars of the time. It has finally arrived in Vancouver. The first time I saw it I drove to Seattle because it wasn't out here yet. It is one of the few movies I have been to in my lifetime that everyone in the theatre clapped at the end. I was moved to tears as the great maestro Valentino took a bolt of his signature red fabric and started draping it over a live model, creating and sculpting the design for a new dress. He truly was the Master of Couture, a dying breed in the times we are living in. Valentino: The last Emperor is a documentary that was filmed over a two year period chronicling Valentino's life work. The animation is superb and the writing is excellent. Harold and Maude

(Read this great article from Vanity Fair about Woolf by Matt Tyrnauer <a href="http://www.vanityfair.com/style/features/2009/03/john-woolf200903">HERE</a>). Classic Woolf, don't you think?
