Read about the most expensive cheese sandwich in the world.
What kind of cheese sandwich would you expect from a celebrity chef? Your standard grilled cheese sandwich certainly wouldn’t do. Martin Blunos, who has held two Michelin stars for over fifteen years, has answered that question with what is likely the most expensive cheese sandwich in the world.
The sandwich, unveiled at the Frome Cheese Show in Somerset, is made with a cornucopia of fine ingredients. Black tomato, fresh figs, red amaranth and slices of quail egg are just a few of the fillings held between three slices of sourdough bread. The cheese itself is also notable—West Country vintage farmhouse cheddar blended with white truffle.
This savory sandwich cost £111 (US $170) to create, and it is currently being considered for a Guinness World Record.
