Remember this gorgeous danish modern desk?  Braxton and I found it amongst the riff/raff at a consignment store and fell immediately in love.  Unfortunately the roof on our house has past it's expiration date and will need to be replaced - like yesterday.  So, we couldn't (not for lack of trying) convince ourselves to spend anymore money at the time.
Fast forward one weekend and.........
It's not our fault I swear.  We went back to the consignment store last weekend - just to window shop -  you know -  like we always do - and guess what was still there????   We considered it a sign.  A spring miracle if you will.  What could we do, really?

We decided to use a black office chair we already had with the desk.  See, we DO have a practical side.

Are you so blinded by the beauty of the desk you don't even notice how rustic our floors are?  I hoped thought so.

The view from the desk is of our lovely pear tree.  I think the "naked lamp" we designed is pretty perfect here.  BTW - I will be doing a post on the naked lamp soon just to refresh your memory.

We are still trying to sell our sofa and wing back chair.  If anyone is interested please email me @ acornelves@aol.com.

Heavy sigh.

About that message in a bottle reference.  Braxton took the top drawer out of the desk (because he's curious like that) and look what he found.  A very strange quote indeed.  I'm not familiar with this quote at all - are you?
If you can't see it well enough from the above photo:

WHAT IS WRONG WITH A "POSITIVE MENTAL ATTITUDE" IS THAT IT EXPRESSES ONLY HALF A TRUTH.  IT IS VALUABLE AND EVEN ESSENTIAL, WHEN THINGS LOOK BAD BUT CAN BE FATALLY FATUOUS WHEN THINGS LOOK GOOD.  (HALF THE TROUBLE IN THE WORLD COMES FROM PEOPLE BEING CHEERFUL WHEN THEY SHOULD BE CONCERNED).
Should I be concerned?
If anyone is familiar with this quote please comment below.  Would love to know.
Have a BEAUTIFUL day.
