Truly amazing vintage birdcage
Decorating your personal space with vintage finds can be a true success or a real disaster, depending on the taste of the designer. To be truly successful in your attempt at designing with a vintage feel, you should have the ability to pick out unique vintage items for your space. Unique is not to be confused with circus like, ridiculous, and distasteful pieces. A home filled with gaudy antiques (use your imagination and picture lots and lots of shiny gold!) from ceiling to floor can be a real eyesore and a very uncomfortable abode. The goal should always be to create a place where life can be present at all times without worrying about breaking or staining things. Just remember that your home should not be a museum. There are places that can hold such pieces and they usually don't include toddlers, couches and late night television or reading with a hot cup of cocoa at your side. Think "life" and it will guide you in choosing unique vintage items for your home that say "welcome" and not "that will be $10 for admission." Look at magazines like Country Living, Dwell, Domino, Cottage Style, etc... for inspiration. Most importantly, take your time. It's imperative to think things through and understand how life happens in your home before purchasing items. It will be truly worthwhile in the end.
Happy Decorating!
